Founded in 1979 as Washington Citizens for Recycling, Zero Waste Washington has evolved through decades of advocacy for sustainable waste management. Originally focused on recycling and hazardous waste, the organization has expanded its mission to include waste prevention and product stewardship. In 2010, the rebranding to Zero Waste Washington marked a commitment to a healthier, waste-free future.
