Our Story
The Zainabia Islamic Society began in the 1990s as a small gathering of Shia Muslim families from Pakistani-Indian backgrounds in the Inland Empire. Initially meeting at the Church of Religious Science in Claremont, the society established strong interfaith relationships while commemorating Muharram and engaging in cultural activities. In 2005, the society expanded into a dedicated 6000 square foot community center in Pomona, California, serving over 200 families.
