Empowering Girls Through Sports and Education
Yuwa, meaning 'youth' in Hindi, is dedicated to transforming the lives of girls from impoverished families in rural Jharkhand, India. Founded in 2009 by Franz Gastler, Yuwa started with a single soccer team and has since expanded to serve over 300 girls daily, making it one of the largest girls’ soccer programs in India. The program not only focuses on sports but also emphasizes education, providing girls with the skills and confidence needed to break free from the cycle of poverty.
Impacting Lives and Futures
Yuwa empowers girls to choose their own futures, equipping them with essential life and leadership skills. More than 30 girls have inspired others by speaking at universities and conferences, challenging societal norms and advocating for their rights.
