Founded in 1997 by passionate educators, the Ypsilanti Youth Orchestra (YYO) was created to offer a full orchestra experience to young musicians in the Ypsilanti School District. With a commitment to inclusivity, YYO provides a tuition-free program that welcomes all students, regardless of their background or experience. The inaugural concert took place in December 1999, and since then, YYO has grown to serve over 220 students, fostering a love for music and community engagement.
YYO empowers over 200 youth from diverse backgrounds through music education and performance opportunities, nurturing creativity and community spirit.
