Our Story

In February 2006, Gigi Pomerantz, a retired Nurse Practitioner from Milwaukee, WI, embarked on a medical mission to Haiti. Witnessing the dire conditions faced by starving children and struggling gardens, she collaborated with local youth to form OJPDH, addressing urgent sanitation needs. By May 2007, they initiated projects to build composting toilets and establish a community garden. In March 2008, YOUTHAITI was officially launched to further these efforts, focusing on environmental protection, soil replenishment, and food security.

Impact

YOUTHAITI has raised over $33,000 in the week following the 2021 earthquake, showcasing its dedication to providing immediate relief and long-term support in sanitation and agriculture.
