About Youth Symphony of Kansas City
The Youth Symphony of Kansas City, originally founded as The Youth Symphony of the Heart of America by Leo Scheer, has been a cornerstone of musical education since 1958. With a vibrant history, YSKC serves as the premier youth orchestra program in the region, nurturing over 400 talented musicians aged 22 and younger from 111 schools across Kansas and Missouri. The organization offers a diverse range of programs, including four full orchestras, chamber music, elective classes, and a summer micro-camp.
Impact of YSKC
Over the past 65 years, YSKC has cultivated an impressive alumni network of more than 11,000 musicians. The orchestra has embarked on international tours to countries such as Austria, Germany, and Spain, and has performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, showcasing the talent and dedication of its young musicians.
