About Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia

Founded in 1979, the Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia (YOCVA) has been dedicated to providing a full-season symphony orchestra experience for youth in Central Virginia. Serving students from elementary to high school across seven counties, YOCVA offers two full symphony orchestras, flute and clarinet ensembles, and a junior strings program.

Impact on the Community

YOCVA enriches the lives of over 200 students annually through weekly after-school music programs, helping them achieve high honors in District, Regional, and State competitions. The organization complements public school programs and provides opportunities for private and home-schooled children.
