Adapted Sports and Recreation

Our Story

Founded in 1976 by Mary Sue Tanis, Youth Challenge began with a mission to provide sports and recreational opportunities for young people with physical disabilities. Starting with just ten children, the organization has expanded its reach to serve over 700 families across eight counties in Northeast Ohio. In 2012, Youth Challenge became part of U.S. Paralympics as the Paralympic Sports Club – Cleveland, further enhancing its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.

Impact

Every year, Youth Challenge offers free adapted sports and recreational activities to over 150 young people with physical disabilities, promoting social growth and physical fitness through peer interaction and volunteer support.
