Our Story
The Youngstown Playhouse, established in 1924, began as a group of women from Temple Rodef Sholom reading plays for enjoyment. Over the years, it evolved into a vibrant community theatre, merging several drama organizations in 1927 to form The Youngstown Players. For nearly a century, it has focused on inclusivity and participation from diverse backgrounds.

With nearly 100 years of service, the Youngstown Playhouse has provided essential community theatre, relying on philanthropic support to cover 65% of its operating costs. It has successfully engaged the community through performances and educational initiatives, especially during challenging times like the pandemic.
