Founded in 1968, Young Musicians Choral Orchestra began as a summer outreach program and has since transformed the lives of over 3,000 Bay Area youth. Under the leadership of Executive Director Daisy Newman since 2003, this program has evolved into a national model, offering a comprehensive blend of musical training, academic reinforcement, and personal development for low-income, underprivileged children.
YMCO currently serves 70 students, providing them with a strong educational foundation in orchestral, jazz, and choral music. Over the past decade, students have earned more than $13 million in scholarships, achieving a remarkable 100% graduation rate and a 43% rate of maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
