Founded in 2014, the Youth Documentary Academy (YDA) empowers young people to tell their stories through the art of documentary filmmaking. Located in Colorado Springs, YDA offers a two-month summer intensive where students learn from professional filmmakers, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of film production.

Making an Impact

YDA provides 12 tuition-free fellowships each year, valued at over $5,000, enabling underrepresented youth to create their own short documentary films. Graduates not only develop their filmmaking skills but also connect with industry professionals and explore educational opportunities.
