Our Story
In 2000, a small group of passionate individuals envisioned an indoor ice rink for Yankton, South Dakota. This dream aimed to enhance winter recreational activities and provide residents of all ages with the opportunity to engage in ice sports. Thus, the Yankton Area Ice Association was formed, dedicated to creating demand for recreational ice skating, acquiring necessary rink equipment, and establishing a facility. With an estimated cost of $500,000 to $750,000, the association garnered support from local businesses and organizations, leading to the successful construction of the Kiwanis 4-H Youth Activities Center and Alcoa Arena, which opened its doors in 2005.
