About Wyckoff House Museum

The Wyckoff House & Association, Inc. was established in 1937 by descendants of Pieter Claesen Wyckoff and Grietje Van Ness-Wyckoff to protect their ancestral home from demolition. Over the decades, community activists joined forces to preserve this historic landmark, which became the first structure in New York designated as a historic landmark in 1965. After surviving a fire in the late 1970s, the house was restored and opened as a public museum in 2001, offering educational programs, public events, and community farmers markets.
