Our Story

Established in 2002, WriteBoston was founded to address the alarming low scores in writing among Boston Public School students. Spearheaded by Jake Murray and Rick Weissbourd from the Harvard Children’s Initiative, the organization aims to enhance youth writing and literacy through innovative programs.

Impact

Each year, WriteBoston positively impacts approximately 1,200 young people by providing essential professional development for educators and engaging youth programming that fosters critical thinking and writing skills.
