The World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial was founded in 1999 to honor the 987,000 men and women from Illinois who served during World War II. Dedicated on December 4, 2004, this memorial stands as a tribute to the 22,000 Illinois veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Impact

Since 2008, nearly 1,000 veterans' personal digital stories have been captured, with 400 submitted to the US Library of Congress, ensuring their legacies are preserved for future generations.
