Our Story
The World Eskimo-Indian Olympics (WEIO) was founded in 1961 in Fairbanks, Alaska, to honor and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Native peoples. This vibrant event showcases traditional games that highlight strength, endurance, and agility, bringing together contestants and dance teams from various Alaskan villages. Transitioning to a non-profit in 1976, WEIO has grown into an annual celebration that fosters community connections and cultural exchange.
