The journey of World Citizen began with Lynn Elling, a young naval officer who witnessed the horrors of war during WWII. His commitment to fostering a world without conflict led to the founding of World Citizen in 1972 in Minneapolis. The organization has since dedicated numerous Peace Sites worldwide and co-founded the Peace Prize Festival, continuing its mission through Peace Education, Peace Sites, and Peace Ambassadors.
World Citizen Peace empowers individuals and communities to create a just and peaceful world. Through its programs, hundreds of Peace Sites have been established, and scholarships have been awarded to Peace Ambassadors for their impactful peace projects.
