Our Story
The World Cataract Foundation was founded in 1978 by Dr. Jerre M. Freeman to address the need for affordable intraocular lenses for cataract surgery. With a manufacturing plant in Delhi, India, the foundation produces high-quality lenses for under $15. Over the years, it has expanded its mission to include volunteer surgical teams that provide free cataract surgeries in more than twenty-five countries, transforming the lives of thousands.
