Our Story

Founded in 1976 by a dedicated group of African-American teachers in Portland, Oregon, the World Arts Foundation Inc. is committed to celebrating and preserving African-American contributions to American culture. By integrating arts and education, the organization inspires culture-building among community leaders, artists, educators, activists, and youth.

Impact

The World Arts Foundation Inc. has significantly impacted Oregon’s African-American community, particularly through its annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This event is recognized as the largest community cultural event of its kind in the state, uniting generations and fostering a cultural movement that celebrates Black excellence.
