Our Story

In 1978, a group of visionary women in Rapid City recognized the urgent need for assistance to victims of domestic violence. This led to the establishment of Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI), dedicated to providing emergency shelter, food, and supportive services to women and children in crisis. Over the years, WAVI has evolved, expanding its services to include a specialized Sexual Assault Program and a commitment to serve all genders and ages affected by violence.
