Founded in 1978 by visionary actors Howard Shalwitz and Roger Brady, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company emerged in Washington, DC, with a mission to revolutionize the theater landscape. The inaugural season kicked off in a church hall near Metro Center in 1980, driven by a commitment to assemble a talented ensemble of actors and explore innovative scripts that challenge societal norms. Woolly Mammoth is not merely a theater; it embodies an ongoing inquiry and experiment in the performing arts, fostering creativity and risk-taking.
