Our Story

Since 2010, Woodlawn United has been the community quarterback in Birmingham’s historic Woodlawn neighborhood, leading a coalition of partners dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty. By implementing a holistic approach inspired by Purpose Built Communities, the organization focuses on three main pillars: education, housing, and wellness.

Impact

With over $31 million invested, Woodlawn United has renovated 128 owner-occupied homes and created 64 multi-family affordable housing units, significantly contributing to community stability.
