Our Story

The Woodland Restoration Foundation was established in 2020 by local businessman Marvin Harris, driven by a passion for restoring the Historic Evergreen Cemetery. With the successful acquisition of the cemetery, the Foundation is now focused on raising additional funds to complete the restoration process. Collaborating with community volunteers, local businesses, and supporters nationwide, the Foundation is dedicated to maintaining and preserving Woodland Cemetery, one of the oldest African American cemeteries in Henrico County, Virginia.

Impact

Through dedicated efforts, the Woodland Restoration Foundation is restoring dignity to Historic Woodland Cemetery, the final resting place of tennis legend Arthur Ashe and thousands of other African Americans from the Richmond community.
