Founded by Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church in 2016, Wooden It Be Lovely became a separate 501(c)(3) in 2021. This nonprofit social enterprise is dedicated to providing hope and employment to women healing from poverty, addiction, and abuse. By refurbishing donated wooden furniture and creating unique products, it fosters a supportive community and offers a residential housing program for women in need, which opened in June 2022.
In 2023, Wooden It Be Lovely logged 348 hours of onsite education and recovery support, provided 1304 safe sleeps in their housing program, graduated 5 participants, and achieved 51% growth in sales, demonstrating significant impact in the community.
