Founded in 2007, Wonderbound has redefined the landscape of contemporary dance in Denver, Colorado. Originally known as Ballet Nouveau Colorado, the organization has evolved under the visionary leadership of Garrett Ammon and Dawn Fay. Their commitment to creating new choreography and nurturing contemporary dance artists has filled a vital void in the region's artistic offerings.

A Journey of Innovation

Wonderbound's journey began with a fresh approach to performance, integrating rock and pop music, multimedia technology, and social media to engage a new audience. The company quickly gained recognition, being named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2009. Collaborations with local artists across various mediums have further enriched the dance experience, creating transformative performances that challenge traditional notions of dance.

A New Home for Creativity

In 2013, Wonderbound made a bold move to a historic 1920s Post Office Garage, which sparked community interest and opened new opportunities. This relocation was celebrated as a daring artistic endeavor, leading to a $250,000 ArtPlace America Creative Placemaking grant. In 2020, Wonderbound found a new permanent home at 3824 Dahlia Street, previously the studio of renowned sculptor Ed Dwight. The newly renovated facility, opened in May 2023, solidifies Wonderbound's role as a cornerstone of Denver's arts community.
