Empowering Women and Families in Crisis
Founded in 1975, the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) emerged from a passionate group of women determined to address the pressing issues of domestic violence and sexual assault in their community. Initially formed as a volunteer effort, WRC has evolved into a robust organization with nearly fifty dedicated staff members, providing essential services to those in need.
WRC operates from a three-story building in Scranton, PA, housing a 24-hour hotline, counseling offices, and administrative spaces. With additional satellite offices, including the Barbara J. Hart Justice Center, WRC is committed to offering comprehensive support to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Last year alone, WRC responded to nearly 3,000 adults and children in crisis, providing free and confidential services designed to empower individuals and families in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. The organization not only offers direct assistance but also works tirelessly to raise community awareness about the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault, striving to create lasting social change.
