Our Story

Founded in 1994 in Dakar, Senegal, Women Watch Afrika, Inc. (WWA) was established by a group of dedicated female professionals committed to addressing the barriers faced by women and girls. With a mission to advocate for the rights of women and female children, WWA has been a beacon of hope for underserved African refugee and immigrant populations since its establishment in Atlanta in 1997. The organization collaborates with local, national, and international social justice entities to promote the advancement of women and share vital resources.

Impact

For over 20 years, WWA has successfully implemented health promotion, violence prevention, and civic engagement programs in Atlanta, Georgia. Notably, WWA was instrumental in introducing domestic violence resource information during refugee orientations and developed a pioneering physical activity program for Muslim women. The organization proudly facilitated the first T-Visa awarded in Georgia to a WWA client, showcasing its commitment to empowering vulnerable populations.
