Our Story

In June 1985, Gwendolyn Ann Turnbough tragically lost her life to domestic violence, leaving behind her eleven-year-old son. This heartbreaking event led to the establishment of the DeKalb County Domestic Violence Task Force, which identified a critical need for additional resources and community education. With the support of the county, the Women’s Resource Center was founded to provide essential services to survivors of domestic violence.

Impact

Thanks to community support, the Champions for Change event raised over $320,000 in 2022, directly benefiting domestic violence survivors in Atlanta.
