Our Story

Founded in 1984, Witness for Peace emerged in response to U.S. funding of the Contras in Nicaragua. Over the years, the organization has organized events to resist military interventions in Central America and has opened offices in Colombia, Honduras, and Cuba. WFP focuses on building transnational grassroots solidarity to combat violence, poverty, and oppression in the Americas.

Impact

Witness for Peace has successfully influenced U.S. policy towards Latin America, achieving legislative victories for human rights and providing humanitarian support during crises. Thousands of activists have mobilized through WFP, raising awareness about the impacts of U.S. intervention and corporate practices in the region.
