Empowering Youth Through Literacy

Wise Readers to Leaders began as an outreach initiative of Stephen Wise Temple in Los Angeles in 2012, serving just 50 students. Today, it has transformed into an independent nonprofit organization, impacting nearly 450 youth annually. Originally collaborating with the Children’s Defense Fund, the program has evolved to create a unique curriculum tailored to engage the Latino community, providing summer literacy programs across five campuses in Los Angeles.

Readers to Leaders effectively prevents summer learning loss and addresses pandemic-related educational setbacks for hundreds of K-8 students from underserved communities. Through free literacy activities and enrichment programs, it fosters self-confidence and a positive attitude towards learning.
