Our Story

The Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance was founded in May 2000 by Joan Sagan, an oncology nurse who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After her treatment, she envisioned an organization dedicated to education, advocacy, and support for ovarian cancer, similar to the Komen Foundation for breast cancer. Following her passing, her sisters continued her legacy, and under the leadership of Executive Director Ashley Wagner, WOCA has expanded its outreach and initiatives across Wisconsin.

Impact

In 2017, WOCA funded $25,000 toward ovarian cancer research, with plans to increase this amount annually. The organization also provides financial assistance to ovarian cancer patients and supports various educational and emotional support programs.
