Our Story

The Wiregrass Blues Society was founded in 2013 to celebrate and preserve the rich blues music heritage of the Wiregrass region in Alabama. This initiative followed the establishment of the Wiregrass Blues Festival in 2011, honoring the legendary blues guitarist Eddie Kirkland. Through various programs, including the Blues-in-Schools outreach initiative, the Society educates the public about their blues heritage and promotes the vibrant culture of blues music.

Impact

Over the years, the Wiregrass Blues Society has positively impacted more than 10,000 public school children through its Blues-in-Schools program. This initiative provides free educational performances and has contributed thousands of dollars in donations for musical instruments and curriculum to local schools, fostering a love for music and culture.
