The Wintergreen Fire and Rescue organizations began in the 1970s, evolving from a volunteer brigade to a fully equipped emergency service. Initially, the Wintergreen Fire Brigade operated from a shed, but as the community grew, so did the need for advanced firefighting and rescue capabilities.
