Our Story

The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation was established in 1994 to combat the demolition of the historic Edgewater Hotel. Since then, it has been pivotal in revitalizing Winter Garden’s Downtown Historic District, focusing on the area's social, cultural, economic, and environmental transformations. The Foundation operates three key locations: the Heritage Museum, the History Research and Education Center, and the Central Florida Railroad Museum, all dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history of West Orange County.
