Our Story
The Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company was established in February of 1937, born from the dedication of thirty-seven community members who gathered to form a fire protection service. With each member contributing one dollar, the company was officially organized, marking the beginning of a legacy of service and commitment to the safety of Pittsgrove Township.
Stewart Potter became the first President and Fire Chief, leading a team that included Pete Jackson as Vice President and Assistant Chief. The company was incorporated in 1939, and its first piece of firefighting apparatus, a Model T Ford, was purchased for just $86.58. Over the decades, the Willow Grove Fire Company has evolved significantly, including a major reconstruction in 1991 that modernized its facilities.
In 2012, the company proudly celebrated its 75th anniversary, reflecting on a rich history of community service and fire safety education. The company continues to seek historical memorabilia from community members to preserve its legacy.
