Our Story

Founded in 1976, the Wildlife Science Center began as a captive gray wolf research lab known as 'The Wolf Project'. After federal funding ended in 1990, the team transitioned to a nonprofit organization to continue vital conservation work. Since achieving 501(c)(3) status in 1991, WSC has focused on educational programming and conservation efforts for endangered species, particularly the red wolf and Mexican gray wolf. In 2017, WSC moved to its current location in Stacy, MN, where it offers interactive presentations and overnight camping experiences for youth.

Impact

WSC plays a crucial role in the conservation of endangered species through its participation in the Species Survival Plan for the red wolf and Mexican gray wolf. The center provides educational programs that inspire youth and the public about wildlife conservation and science education.
