Our Story

Founded in 1992 by Jon Mulford, the Wilderness Land Trust addresses the critical issue of private lands within wilderness areas. By acquiring unprotected private land, the organization ensures these vital resources are returned to public ownership, safeguarding them for future generations.

Impact

To date, the Trust has permanently protected 58,067 acres and added 592 parcels in 120 wilderness areas into public ownership, completing 17 designated wilderness areas.
