Our Story
The Wildacres story began in the 1920s when Thomas Dixon acquired over 1,000 acres of wooded land on Pompey’s Knob. After a series of events, including the Great Depression, I.D. Blumenthal purchased the property in 1936, restoring it and opening it as a retreat for nonprofit organizations in 1946. Since then, Wildacres has dedicated itself to the betterment of human relations, hosting numerous groups for retreats and conferences focused on social justice and equity.
