Our Story
Founded in 2014 by Heather McCargo, Wild Seed Project challenges the notion that native plant propagation is solely for trained scientists. With clear guidance, anyone can sow native seeds in their own spaces—be it back porches, balconies, or city stoops. As human impact expands, biodiversity declines, and climate change accelerates, the need to support native plants has never been more urgent. Wild Seed Project is building a movement of citizen ecologists dedicated to restoring ecosystems and nurturing the plants that sustain life on Earth.
Our Impact
Wild Seed Project raises awareness about the importance of native plants and empowers individuals to restore biodiversity in their communities. By equipping community members, public officials, and land-holding organizations with essential skills and resources, the project fosters the repopulation of landscapes with native plants that enhance wildlife habitats and build climate resilience.
