Our Story

Founded in 1964 by visionary leaders including Dena Sher, Dorothy Nofer, and Julia Cottrell, the Whitemarsh Art Center began with a mission to provide after-school arts programming for children. Over the years, it has evolved into a vibrant community hub for art education, serving individuals of all ages and skill levels. Initially utilizing various classroom spaces, the center found its home in a historic farmhouse in Cedar Grove Park in 1970, expanding its facilities in 1991 to better serve the community.

Impact on the Community

Since its inception, the Whitemarsh Art Center has reliably provided art education and resources, adapting to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic by offering online learning options.
