Our Story

Founded in the 1950s by local sailor W.G. (Bill) Graves, Jr., the White Bear Sailing School began with a simple mission: to teach youth the art of sailing on White Bear Lake. Over the decades, the school has grown from 25 students to approximately 300 annually, becoming a cornerstone of the community's sailing culture. Incorporated as a public non-profit in 1980, the school has expanded its fleet and facilities through generous donations and fundraising efforts.

Impact

With over 60 years of experience, the White Bear Sailing School has successfully taught thousands of students, instilling a passion for sailing and developing skilled sailors who respect the sport. Many alumni have excelled in regattas and have taken on coaching roles at various sailing institutions.
