Our Story

Violence does not discriminate. Jacqueline Sterbach, the President and Founder of What Is Your Voice Inc, experienced the devastating effects of domestic violence as a young mother. Her journey from despair to empowerment ignited a passion to make a difference. Celebrating its 7th anniversary, this nonprofit has become a trailblazer in combating domestic violence, family violence, and teen dating violence in Sussex County, Delaware.

In the past year alone, What Is Your Voice has responded to over 12,000 texts and calls through its 24/7 helpline, providing crucial support to those in need. With 12,000 responses from Peer Advocates and counselors, and over 1,500 counseling sessions, the organization has educated and reached out to 800,000 individuals, establishing or maintaining 40 apartments and households, and bringing hope to more than 300 women and children.
