Founded over five decades ago in San Diego, California, Western Field Ornithologists (WFO) began as a group of passionate birders. Originally named California Field Ornithologists, the organization has evolved to encompass a broader mission across western states and provinces, focusing on the study and appreciation of birds.
WFO is dedicated to promoting the study, appreciation, and protection of birds throughout western North America, including Hawai‘i and northwestern Mexico.
