About the Westchester Philharmonic

Now entering its 42nd season, the Westchester Philharmonic stands as the oldest, continuously running professional symphony orchestra in Westchester County. Based at the Purchase Performing Arts Center, this esteemed orchestra captivates audiences with a diverse range of performances, including outdoor concerts, chamber music, and engaging children's programs. Founded in 1983 under the visionary leadership of the late Music Director Paul Lustig Dunkel, the Philharmonic has evolved into a cultural cornerstone, attracting music lovers from Rockland, Bergen, Fairfield, and Putnam counties, as well as New York City.

Under the guidance of Executive & Artistic Director Joshua Worby, the Westchester Philharmonic has hosted renowned artists such as Joshua Bell, Itzhak Perlman, and Midori, while also championing new works by award-winning composers. The orchestra's commitment to diversity is evident in its commissioning of works from composers of varied backgrounds, including women and artists of color, setting a new standard for regional symphony orchestras.
