Our Story

The West Michigan Jazz Society was founded in March 1986 with a mission to promote, preserve, and perpetuate live jazz in the West Michigan area. Starting with just 20 passionate members, the Society has grown significantly, producing numerous live music events each year and supporting local arts organizations, schools, and colleges. The Society also administers the W.M.J.S. Scholarship Fund, providing tuition assistance to students pursuing jazz studies, while honoring outstanding local musicians through various awards.
