Our Story

Brent Woody, an attorney licensed in Florida and Tennessee, founded the Justice Restoration Center (JRC) in 2009 with a mission to provide free legal services to victims and survivors of human trafficking. Recognizing the dire need for legal assistance among individuals subjected to forced labor, commercial sex acts, and domestic servitude, Brent committed to never turning away a survivor seeking help. His advocacy efforts expanded in 2012, leading to the successful passage of Florida’s human trafficking victim expungement law in 2013, which allows survivors to clear unjust criminal records resulting from their exploitation.

Since then, JRC has represented over 200 survivors, advocating for their rights and working tirelessly to eliminate barriers that hinder their recovery. Brent's legislative initiatives have included the elimination of the statute of limitations for human trafficking offenses and enhanced penalties for traffickers and sex-buyers. JRC continues to be a beacon of hope for survivors, providing essential legal services and support.

Impact

JRC empowers survivors to reclaim their lives through pro bono restorative legal services, fostering freedom and justice.
