Our Story
The West Falmouth Library originated in the mid-1870s when five young women formed a club to enhance their lives through musical and literary programs. They began collecting books through membership dues, leading to the establishment of the first library in a closet. Over the years, the library evolved, receiving its State Charter in 1893, and the current building was dedicated in 1896, thanks to community contributions. Today, the library thrives as a community center, adapting to the information age while fulfilling its mission to serve the educational and entertainment needs of the community.
