Our Story

Founded by Martha Reynolds in 2000, West African Vocational Schools was born from a desire to provide vocational training in Guinea-Bissau. After her first visit in 1994, Martha and a dedicated team of volunteers established the first school in 2006, focusing on practical skills that enable local youth to secure employment or start their own businesses.

Impact

Each year, WAVS equips over 200 students with essential job skills, with more than 75% of graduates successfully finding employment or launching their own ventures. Since inception, over 1,900 young men and women have benefited, significantly enhancing their income and quality of life.
