Our Story

Founded in 1979, WellShare International began its journey in post-war Vietnam refugee camps, where dedicated Minnesotan clinicians provided care to over 80,000 individuals. Over the past 45 years, WellShare has expanded its mission to serve underrepresented communities both in Minnesota and internationally, particularly in Tanzania. By implementing the community health worker model, WellShare has become a trusted partner in delivering essential health services to those in need.

Impact

WellShare focuses on disrupting the cycle of generational poverty, disease, and trauma. Currently serving 16 counties in Minnesota and numerous villages in Tanzania, WellShare's community health workers address social determinants of health, leading to improved health outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and reduced hospitalizations.
