Our Story
Founded in 2008, We The People of Detroit (WPD) emerged in response to the Emergency Management of Detroit and its public schools. This organization is dedicated to informing, educating, and empowering residents on critical issues such as civil rights, land, water, education, and the democratic process.
Impact
Since 2014, WPD has been at the forefront of addressing the water shutoff crisis in Detroit. By providing emergency water services and advocating for equitable access, WPD has highlighted the severe public health implications of water cutoffs, showing that affected individuals are more likely to suffer from water-related illnesses.
